Nestled in the heart of Otter Tail County lakes country (home of over a thousand lakes!!), Sunset Bay Resort on Dead Lake in Richville, Minnesota, is a perfect lakeside getaway! Our secluded 15 wooded acres and 550 feet of clean sugar sand beach makes Sunset Bay a hidden gem. We expanded in 2019, so now have 8 lakeside cabins, a rental home (the House on the Hill), a park model rental (the Cozy Cabin), a travel trailer rental and 6 campsites with water and electricity hookups (2 also with septic). Add to all that-a spectacular swimming beach, our own boat launch, game room/lounge, fish cleaning house, guest laundry, shower house, small store-and of course, the most amazing SUNSETS! We are excited to announce we are the new owners of Sunset Bay resort. We want to thank Jim and Kristin for their service to guests and the resort community. All kinds of game fish make the 7900 acres of Dead Lake their home! Northern pike, walleye, bluegill, black crappie and largemouth bass are just some of the varieties you can catch when you visit Sunset Bay Resort. Night crawlers are available in our Office/Store and a fish house is on-site to clean your catch of the day!
Come see our 550 feet of soft sugar sand beach that is just waiting for you! Make a sand castle, sit in an Adirondack chair and read a book, or watch the spectacular sunset every evening. Play a game of water volleyball, float in an inner tube or try one of the stand-up paddle boards available!
Sunset Bay Resort has our own boat launch for your convenience and plenty of trailer parking on site. Guests are welcome to bring their own boats, and one dock space comes with cabin rental at no charge. Don’t have your own boat? One of our 14’ fishing boats is included with your cabin rental, with 9.9 horsepower motors available to rent, as well as a 20’ pontoon.
Cabins:
Sunset Bay Resort has 10 cabins of various sizes that all have direct lake access and are situated approximately 30 feet apart for privacy.
Camping: We also have 6 large transient campsites with electric (50 & 30A) and water hookups. Common area restrooms and shower facilities provided. Don’t own a camper? Rent ours!
