All kinds of game fish call the 7,900 acres of Dead Lake home! Northern pike, walleye, bluegill, black crappie, and largemouth bass are just some of the varieties you can catch at Sunset Bay Resort. Nightcrawlers are available in our Office/Store, and a fish house is on-site to clean your catch of the day!
Swimming
Come see our 550 feet of soft sugar sand beach that is just waiting for you! Make a sand castle, sit in an Adirondack chair and read a book, or watch the spectacular sunset every evening. Play a game of water volleyball, float in an inner tube or try one of the stand-up paddle boards available!
Boating
Sunset Bay Resort offers a private boat launch and ample trailer parking. Guests are welcome to bring their own boats, and cabin rentals include one dock space at no extra cost. Don’t have a boat? We’ve got you covered with four boat and three pontoon rental options available.
Lodging
Sunset Bay Resort offers 11 cozy cabins of various sizes, all with direct lake access and situated 30 feet apart for privacy. We also have 6 large campsites with electric (50 & 30A) and water hookups, along with clean restrooms and shower facilities. Don’t own a camper? Rent ours today!

Nestled in the heart of Otter Tail County’s lakes country, home to over a thousand lakes, Sunset Bay Resort on Dead Lake in Richville, Minnesota, is the perfect lakeside getaway! Set on 15 secluded wooded acres with 550 feet of pristine sugar sand beach, Sunset Bay Resort is truly a hidden gem.
We now offer 8 lakeside cabins, new cabin 9, a rental home (The House on the Hill), a park model rental (The Cozy Cabin), a travel trailer rental, and 6 campsites with water and electricity hookups (2 also include septic). Our amenities include a spectacular swimming beach, private boat launch, game room/lounge, fish cleaning station, guest laundry, shower house, and a small on-site store. And, of course, our breathtaking sunsets are unmatched!
